If you live under a rock and haven’t heard about Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s reunion at Coachella 2012. Not only am I jealous of anyone who got to see this event but as I’ve seen on youtube, 2Pac (Tupac Shakur) appeared as a hologram to preform his a minute of his hits “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerika’s Most Wanted.” Creative, yes.
However, the set is no different than Snoop and Dre’s famous ‘Up In Smoke’ tour of 2000. Not only did they rock out to Eazy-E, Roger Troutman and Billie Smalls, but “Hail Mary” was also played for about one minute, as well as Snoop jumping in on “2 of Amerika’s Most Wanted,” for only the first two verses.
Snoop, Dre and 2Pac ‘Up In Smoke’ Tour 2000
Is the best they can come up with is those songs? Rumors of a hologram Nate Dogg, who passed away last year, also appearing at Coachella have surfaced. So why not play “All About U?” Not only is 2Pac and Snoop involved in a few verses, but Nate Dogg songs the chorus and Dre Produced the hit. Why “Hail Mary?” Is that the song that defines Tupac Shakur’s career? Why not, if you really miss Nate and Pac, play “How Long Will They Mourn Me?” Give a Dre and Snoop twist on it, be creative, they’ve made it this far.
**Little know fact, Tupac died hating Dr. Dre for leaving Death Row Records and joining up with Master P. In the song “Toss it Up” the final verse is a diss on how Dre is nothing but a studio gangster. looking for that extra dollar. **
